TON and LayerZero Join Forces to Revolutionize Blockchain Interoperability

In a major move to advance blockchain interoperability, the TON Foundation has announced its integration with LayerZero, the industry’s leading cross-chain messaging protocol. This integration extends TON’s connectivity to over 100 other chains, starting with 12 key networks, including Ethereum, Tron, and Solana. By combining LayerZero’s robust interoperability infrastructure with TON’s high scalability and low transaction fees, the partnership is set to transform decentralized finance (DeFi) on TON. Breaking Down Barriers: LayerZero Brings Liquidity to TON While TON has excelled as a standalone Layer-1 blockchain in scalability and distribution, its ecosystem has historically been isolated from major crypto liquidity pools. By integrating with LayerZero, TON gains access to multi-chain liquidity, unlocking new possibilities for DeFi innovation in 2025. This development enhances accessibility and ensures sustainable liquidity within the TON ecosystem, positioning it for widespread adoption. Several leading projects are already leveraging LayerZero’s infrastructure to expand their presence on TON: USDT: LayerZero facilitates the deployment of USDT0, a new consortium-backed product known as the Legacy Mesh, which interconnects USDT across TON, Tron, Ethereum, and Arbitrum. Ethena: The synthetic dollar and yield-bearing stable asset protocol will deploy its flagship $5 billion asset, USDe, on TON via LayerZero’s OFT Standard. Stargate: As the largest cross-chain bridge in crypto, Stargate enables seamless transfers of USDT between Ethereum, Tron, and TON, along with other OFTs such as Ethena. With these integrations, users can now transfer assets such as USDT and other tokens directly to the TON blockchain via Stargate. Developers, in turn, will benefit from the ability to deploy tokens to TON from any of LayerZero’s 100+ supported chains using a single smart contract. Empowering Developers with LayerZero’s Advanced Tooling The integration doesn’t just enhance asset transfers; it also equips developers with a suite of powerful tools to build within TON’s ecosystem: Message Passing: Enables smart contracts on TON to communicate seamlessly with contracts on other LayerZero-supported chains. Token Expansion: Facilitates the deployment of tokens to TON from any of LayerZero’s 100+ interconnected networks. FunC++: A newly introduced programming framework that streamlines development within TON’s FunC language, enhancing efficiency and reducing compilation times. LayerZero Introduces FunC++ to Boost EVM Compatibility LayerZero has pioneered FunC++, an object-oriented framework that simplifies development within FunC, the core programming language of TON. This innovation significantly reduces the complexity of building on TON and will be further integrated into TON’s upcoming language, Tolk. LayerZero has committed to continued support for TON Core through tooling, development feedback, and ongoing contributions aimed at fostering seamless cross-chain development.
