At a time of tremendous expansion and rising consumer demand for world-building services and Metaverse products, Journey’s latest investment in its Metaverse Studio is a welcome boon to the company’s Metaverse, gaming, and web3 business offerings. Journey, a leading design and innovation consultancy in the Metaverse, has acquired The Devhouse Agency.

The Devhouse Agency is an award-winning Dallas-based software development studio focusing on game development for various platforms and industries, such as gaming, NFT Utility, VR/AR, marketing/events, and more. Devhouse was established in 2018, and its staff features veteran programmers proficient in Unity and Unreal, 3D artists, Solidity programmers, and video game producers.

At Journey, we continue to work towards expanding our capabilities and ability to work across various platforms, including our groundbreaking Metaverse Studio,” said Cathy Hackl, Journey’s Chief Metaverse Officer told NFT Today. “The acquisition of Devhouse will lead to increased momentum and expanded services for our clients as integrated physical and digital experiences have the potential to create new and long-lasting customers across industries.

In addition to a PC and console game for a well-known IP, Devhouse has created Roblox games for several major companies.

According to Jim Welch, founder and CEO of The Devhouse Agency, “our highly skilled team will aid Journey’s Metaverse Studio in scaling up its offerings and help further support the kind of unique and forward-thinking ideas and experiences that Journey is creating across virtual physical, and digital.” Our team has worked hard to get where we are, and we couldn’t be happier to be a part of Journey, where we’ll be able to continue and significantly grow our capacity to design and implement groundbreaking experiences across gaming, Web3, and beyond.

The Roblox, Fortnite Creative, Rec Room, Core, VR Chat, Meta’s Horizon, Microsoft’s AltspaceVR, and other game development platforms are just some of the strategic and technical offerings from Hackl’s Roblox- and Fortnite-focused Metaverse Studio at Journey. The studio also offers QA testing for video games, virtual concert production, motion capture, and volumetric video development in Unity, Unreal, and Solidity, among other platforms and engines.

CEO Andy Zimmerman believes that with this purchase, Journey will be able to “continue breaking ground in new worlds like never before,” whether those worlds are physical, digital, or virtual. “We’re expanding as a business and into new areas of expertise, and we couldn’t be more pleased to have The Devhouse Agency on board. We are thrilled to have them as part of our Metaverse studio, as they have contributed to some of the most prominent projects in the field and bring with them a level of expertise that is simply unparalleled.”

Devhouse’s services have extended beyond game creation to include NFT development, games, drops and minting for web3 projects like Dippies and Chill Cowboys Country Club.
