Donald plays the Digital Trump Card

Since Beeple's record-breaking sale, several celebrities have jumped on the NFT bandwagon and have used the technology to create and sell unique digital items. Rapper Logic, for example, sold a collection of digital trading cards featuring himself and other artists for over $2 million. And musician Grimes, who is also the ex-girlfriend of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, sold a collection of digital art and music for over $6 million. Now the former President is getting in on the act, albeit a bit late.  Make Collections Great Again?  Early this week, Donald Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to alert his followers that he had a massive announcement. Elon Musk has reinstated his Twitter account, but the former President hasn't tweeted as of the publishing of this article, choosing to stick with his platform, but eager sleuths are quick to screenshot and distribute it - rumors began to circulate that it was something to do with his current Presidential run, but oh no... nothing could have prepared us for what was announced today!  "My Official Donald Trump Digital Trading Card Collection is here!" exclaimed Trump much to the bemusement of Twitter who were quick to ridicule the announcement. Each Trump Digital Trading Card is USD 99, plus the low transactional fee required to interact with the Polygon blockchain. https://twitter.com/MuellerSheWrote/status/1603420300980281344?s=20&t=2jX3Yljm_qOcIDtsSAosUA Trump calls them "...very much like baseball cards, but hopefully much more exciting" - he has a point though.  You want Utility - you got it!  With every digital collectible you buy, you are entered into the Trump sweepstakes. According to Trump's site, you can "Win incredible prizes, including your chance to spend time with the President of the United States. Other prizes include Mar-A-Lago Group Cocktail Hour, Playing Golf with Trump, and Zoom calls.  At least they had the decency to put a nice disclaimer on the website "Trump Digital Trading Cards (NFTs) are intended as collectible items for individual enjoyment only, not for investment vehicles."  It remains to be seen how popular the collection will be, as the former President is the lowest it has been since 2015 - can Web3 turn the tide?
