Prometheans: NFTs With a Creative Twist

Staff Writer2024-01-31

The world of NFTs can be a difficult one to navigate. There are so many that the average person has no clue where to start. However, there are some projects that are worth looking into a little more closely. Prometheans is one such project; an NFT collection with a difference.  The Project  You are greeted with a fabulously minimalistic and pixelated retro-styled interface. From here you can mint a Monk, there are currently 29953 Promethean Monks in service at the time of writing.  There is a 15-minute time limit and every time a monk is minted, the counter or 'flame' resets and the catch is that the lower the timeframe, the rarer the NFT. When the flame dies, so does the game which adds an interesting dynamic to the collection as it relies on ongoing minting, marketing, and word of mouth to keep it going without the normal NFT dynamics one would expect from current communities. History of Prometheans  The history of the Prometheans is a long and complicated one, full of ups and downs. But the basics are this: Prometheans are a race of beings that were created by the Titans to serve as their servants and soldiers. They were created using the power of the sun, and they were given the ability to harness fire. The Titans used the Prometheans to help them fight against the Olympians, but eventually, they turned on their creators. The Prometheans sided with the Olympians in the great war between the two groups of gods. After the war, the Prometheans were banished from Olympus and forced to live on Earth. They tried to make the best of their new situation, but it was not easy. They were constantly hunted by humans and other creatures that did not understand them. But even in exile, the Prometheans continued to create. They built great civilizations and made advances in art, science, and magic. They also continued to fight for their place in the world, both against those who would harm them and for acceptance from those who did not understand them. What makes this Project different?  According to the manifesto "Prometheans has no roadmap, no discord and no utility" and "New monks will be responsible for watching over the fire for 72 hours upon being minted, during which the NFT will remain non-transferable (this is automatic). All monks still undergoing their shift when the fire goes out will remain non-transferable forever." This uses a 'pay-what-you-want' model as the creators responded to the high minting prices they saw in the market, and they have plans to greatly expand into other projects in the future.  It has already received critical acclaim from Blockchain influencers like Keir Finlow - Bates who said: "This is the smartest simplest NFT project I've seen in a while" and added, "And the code for the contract is clean". It's refreshing to see that the Crypto winter is forcing creators to think outside of the box, and we are excited to see what lies ahead.
