Château de Chambord, Swiss National Museum, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and More Lead the Charge Web3 for the Arts and Culture (WAC) Lab, spearheaded by We Are Museums and supported by the Tezos Foundation, has announced the release of ten groundbreaking cultural innovation projects. These initiatives, undertaken by esteemed institutions such as the Château de Chambord, Swiss National Museum, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, and Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico, represent the forefront of integrating cutting-edge technologies into the cultural sector. Transforming Museums with Web3 Technologies WAC Lab continues to redefine how cultural institutions engage with their audiences by leveraging blockchain technology, generative AI, and immersive experiences. The latest projects aim to address contemporary challenges faced by museums, including attracting younger, tech-savvy visitors, securing funding, and maintaining relevance in an increasingly digital world. Through these innovations, museums can offer immersive, interactive experiences and explore new revenue streams such as NFTs and unique membership programs. Pioneering the Future of Museums Since its establishment in 2021, WAC Lab has been a pivotal force in equipping cultural institutions with the tools and knowledge needed to navigate the digital age. The program has trained over three hundred cultural professionals, enabling them to harness the potential of blockchain technology. Over the past eight months, more than eight hundred art professionals have engaged in weekly discussions to understand the implications of Web3, leading to twenty-four museums undergoing extensive training and culminating in ten institutions developing transformative Web3 projects. "Taking the creative application of blockchain even further by blending museum culture with blockchain culture, this new season unveils the potential of decentralized governance and new types of loyalty programs," said Diane Drubay, founder of We Are Museums and WAC Lab. Previous participants seamlessly integrated Web3 into their programs, such as Musée d'Orsay offering digital souvenirs and introducing live on-site collecting experiences by artist Agoria. I can't wait to discover the creative projects from this latest cohort come to life,” commented Aleksandra Artamonovskaja, Head of Arts at Trilitech.
